This world is very different from any other shifter story I've read by adding fantasy elements I hadn't expected. I loved it. It allowed for an interplay between different shifters, vampires, and mages. I started with this book. I can't say I regret that, but I do know I'd know these characters so much more if I'd started back at the beginning of the stories in this world. So, is it a standalone? Yes. Will you enjoy it even more if you start with the first book? I believe so. The world is rich and interesting, with a thorough history that impacts the story we have today. The shifters are interesting. And the steamy scenes made me blush in the best way.
Fiona is a young woman who is a leader in a fight against dragon shifters. She's battle weary and tired of losing people. Mikey is an orphan who doesn't know who is really is much less what type of shifter he should be able to turn into. Somewhere on the battlefield she saw a shiny object and picked it up. Now she's dreaming about a room that there seems no way out of. When she tells her parents and shows them the stone they tell her it is a dream crystal that will show her her fated mate who is a dragon. The crystal is only for a dragon shifter and his fated mate. Her parents tell her to keep sleeping with it. Fate seems to be catching up with Mikey and Fiona. There is a lost dragon prince that needs to be found to get rid of the king on the throne who causing havoc. Will they be able to find each other in the physical realm and figure out the rest? Will they be able to stop the dreaded dragon king? A fascinating story!
Great paranormal story. It was a page turner and the suspense was great. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. Finoa was a powerful leader who lost people that she love against dragons. Until she ran into Mickey who was an orphan who quit didn’t understand about his own shifter power. He was confused until she took him under her wing as guide him through his transformation journey. I highly recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed.
